Shanghai, May 8, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — From May 5 to 8, 2021, TUV SÜD Greater China Group (hereinafter referred to as “TUV SÜD”) showcased its products at the 30th China International Bicycle Exhibition and held a certification ceremony at its booth, awarding Zhejiang Tianhong Lithium Battery Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Zhejiang Tianhong”) a Pedelec battery EN ISO 13849-1:2015 functional safety assessment report. Experts from TUV SÜD’s Light Industry Products Division also engaged in discussions with bicycle manufacturers, distributors, and trading partners at the exhibition, addressing product standard compliance issues and assisting bicycle companies in entering the global market.
The functional safety assessment requirements for electronic control components in EN 15194:2017 are a challenge for domestic companies in meeting the new standard and a technical hurdle that suppliers in the industry must overcome. As a benchmark enterprise in the Pedelec battery industry in Zhejiang Province, Zhejiang Tianhong actively organized its technical team to work with TÜV SÜD to develop battery safety design schemes and solutions that meet the standard requirements at the beginning of the standard’s release, and finally passed the EN ISO 13849-1:2015 functional safety assessment.
Mr. Ding Yubin (third from left), Mr. Zhang Binggang (second from left), and Mr. Qin Wei (first from right) from TUV SÜD’s Light Industry Products Division, along with Mr. Du Weiyun (second from right) and Mr. Zhou Xinfang (first from left) from Zhejiang Tianhong, attended the certificate awarding ceremony.
Mr. Du Weiyun, General Manager of Zhejiang Tianhong, stated: “EN While the functional safety assessment requirements for batteries in standard 15194:2017 present a challenge, they also offer an opportunity. The new standard provides domestic manufacturers with an opportunity to improve their product quality. TUV SÜD’s collaboration throughout the project enabled Zhejiang Tianhong to adapt to the updated standard, improve product quality, and better serve its vast customer base of bicycle OEMs.
At the event, a TUV SÜD testing expert stated, “In the post-pandemic era, people are increasingly advocating for green personal travel and emphasizing social distancing, leading to a boom in the bicycle industry over the past two years. However, with the continuous increase in bicycle exports, the problem of inconsistent product quality has become increasingly serious. Therefore, the EU market has recently increased its random inspections of complete bicycles, posing a significant challenge to domestic manufacturers in improving product quality. As a partner for bicycle manufacturers and companies seeking certification solutions, TUV SÜD provides a one-stop testing and certification service for the entire product chain, from components to complete bicycles, through professional technology and localized services, building a fast and effective bridge for domestic bicycle manufacturers and companies to enter the international market.”
